Color postcard of the Motordrome at Luna Park from 1914. The front of the postcard depicts spectators in the infield watching a motorcylce race. Stands on the far side of the track are full of people. Infield is more sparsely populated and includes several cars. The postcard was mailed to Peter Peterson from his mother and includes a handwritten note on the back side. It was postmarked Feb, 1914 from Cleveland, Ohio, and has a one cent postage stamp affixed to the back. Handwritten message says: "Cleveland d 8th Feb 1914. Dear Sam, Well, how are you? We are pretty well here exept [sic] a cold some of us have, it is quite cold here now. I suppose it is winter out by you too now, we have just one chicken and our roster now. Something was in the coop and killed all the others Friday night. There is 10 dead laying around in the yard. Pa think it was a dog or fox. Love from all, write soon. Mother." |
