|Description||Skirt remnant, white organza embroidered along lower edge with blue silk thread flowers, green thread stems, and white accents. Straw is also woven into the design of the floral wreath. The skirt is only partially complete; appears to have had section removed at a later date. The waist hem is creased but unstitched; believed altered at time that section was removed from skirt. An extra piece (b) is loose in the box; embroidered design does not match that along lower edge of skirt, so is not believed to have been part of the garment at that area.|
|Dimensions||W-88 L-54 inches|
|Owned||Claudia A. Williams [Mrs. John L. Watkins]|
The skirt belonged to the wedding gown worn by Claudia A. Williams at her marriage to Dr. John L. Watkins in Greenville, North Carolina.
[Note: Construction details, such as the lack of stitching evidence, suggest this was not finished or worn.]
