|Provenance||The coverlet was the property of the donor's mother, Mrs. E.S. Norris, wife of Corporal E.S. Norris. She was born in Greene Co., VA, on 2/26/1850. This spread was woven by her mother, Martha Elizabeth Shotwell Powell, wife of Benjamin Powell, when Mrs. Norris was a small child, in Virginia sometime in the early 1860s. Mrs. Norris moved to Texas with her husband in 1881. The spread was in her possession until her death on 4/10/1939.|
