Description Model 1840 U. S. Officer's Light Artillery Saber: single-edged curved blade with single broad fuller; brass hilt formed from knuckle bow terminating in disc quillon which is cast with a rosette, knuckle bow cast with banded floral decoration; flared pommel with floral spray on forward edge; old solder where knuckle bow meets pommel; wood grip covered with leather and wound with single strand of wire. Metal scabbard (.763b) with two suspension rings and drag; remains of sword sling on lower suspension ring.
