Description These are wooden beads on a metal link chain with an oval brass medallion at one end that reads: "O Marie Concue Sans Peche Priez Pour Nous. Quer Avons Recours A vous, 1830" ("O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee, 1830"). There is a figure of Mary on the side with the inscription and on the reverse is a cross surrounded by stars and surmounting a large case "M".

Provenance The rosary beads were presented to Capt. Henry M. Marchant by Sister Julianna of St. Francis De Sales Hospital on the outskirts of Richmond in 1864. He was in Co. A, 4th Texas Infantry, Hood's Brigade, Longstreet's Corps.
