Description Binocular optic device with leather grip. The maker's name "Jumelle Marine" is stamped around the edge of both gutta percha eyepieces. Both tubes covered with black leather. A sticker attached to the top of the left tube reads, "Gen. J.E.B. STUART / TO / Lieut. T.S. GARNETT / HIS A.D.C." A Sticker attached to the top of the right tube reads, "BATTLEFIELD / YELLOW TAVERN / VIRGINIA / MAY 11TH, 1864." With case (.596a).

Provenance Maj. Gen. J. E. B. Stuart owned and used these field glasses. They were on his person when he was wounded at Yellow Tavern on May 11, 1864, at which time he gave them to his Aide-de-Camp Lt. Theodore Stanford Garnett, Jr.
