Description Henry Lever Action repeating rifle, .44 caliber octagonal barrel containing a rear sight mortise; black walnut stock. The rifle contains a patent date of October 16, 1860, manufactured at New Haven Arms Co., and a serial number, "1950" on top near the sight. Engraved on obverse breach block "Charlotte, N. C., April 22, 1865 / to Colonel G. A. Martin, C. S. A. / for the President's defense / by Staff Officer [Burton Harrison] of / Jefferson Davis / P. C. S."
