Written in ink is the history of the pen, bill, and their owner: "This Note was signed by Miss M. Reeves (now Mrs. / Leo Vogel) when in Confederate States Treasu-/ry Department. The pen and staff is the same / used by her in the work of signing such notes. / Contributed by Mrs. Leo Vogel of St. Augustine Fla."
Pen (0985.2.67a) formerly attached to cardstock with metallic wire; removed for preservation purposes, and stored separately.
