Description Confederate note: Piece of cardstock (thick paper card) onto which is glued a Confederate States of America (CSA) $10 note. Written in ink is the history of the pen, bill, and their owner: "This Note was signed by Miss M. Reeves (now Mrs. / Leo Vogel) when in Confederate States Treasu-/ry Department. The pen and staff is the same / used by her in the work of signing such notes. / Contributed by Mrs. Leo Vogel of St. Augustine Fla."
Pen (0985.2.67a) formerly attached to cardstock with metallic wire; removed for preservation purposes, and stored separately.

Provenance This note was signed by Miss Mary Catharine Reeves (later Mrs. Leo Vogel), when in Confederate States Treasury Department. The pen and staff is the same used by her in the work of signing such notes. She was 21 years old when the war began.
