Description The silverplate fork has four tines and a raised scalloped edge with double line decoration on the stem. A script "D" is engraved on the back of the stem. The fork has no maker's mark.

Provenance The silverplate fork was part of President Davis' camp outfit. It was left by Burton Harrison, secretary to Mr. Davis, at the home of Mrs. Amelia Haile near Gainesville, Florida, at the same time he left the inkwell (0985.2.8). Mr. Harrison stayed for a time with Mrs. Haile in Florida during his escape from the Federal troops after the evacuation of Richmond and capture of Jefferson Davis.
