"Gen. Hood's Brigade (Fourth Texas) was organized in Seguin, Tex, I remember so well their marching off to war…. A member of Hood's Brigade carved a jet cross with a knife and file, and sent it to young lady friend, at her death I fell heir to it and wore it until now." (donor's letter, 11/19/1934)
