Description Model 1850 U.S. Staff and Field Officer's Sword: slightly curved single-edged blade with two fullers, etched with floral sprays, military trophies, eagle and "US", etched "Ames MFG. CO. / Chicopee / Chicopee[sic]"; hilt of gilded brass consisting of two branches filled with pierced floral designs and the letters "US", knuckle bow pierced for sword knot near pommel, remains of leather sword knot, pommel decorated with floral spray on the forward edge, wood grips covered in shagreen and wound in remnants of twisted wire. With metal scabbard (.724b) with brass mounts.
