Cavalry Saber: single-edged, curved blade with flat back and rudimentary false edge and two fullers; brass hilt with a knucklebow and two branches flowing from an oval guard and terminating at the pommel; wood grip covered in leather and wound in twisted brass wire. Metal scabbard (.787b) with two suspension rings and large drag.

Event Battle of Chancellorsville
Provenance Maj. Richard Channing Price used this sword and scabbard during the war. He was killed in action during the Battle of Chancellorsville on May 1, 1863. He is believed to have been initially buried on the battlefield, as his remains were moved to Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond in December 1865.
