These buttons plus two others are attached to a green paper envelope (.265a) postmarked, "RICHMOND / DEC 24 / 3:30 PM / 1926 / VA." "Mrs. John Haskell / Cau___ Road / Columbia / SC" handwritten in ink on the envelope. "Buttons / worn by Col. John C. Haskell / through the War / between the States / _________________" handwritten in pencil on the envelope. A red two-cent stamp is the upper right corner.
