The badge consists three parts - bar pin, ribbon, and pendant. The brass bar pin is a plain rectangular shape and is engraved with "VETERAN." Two small three-link chains connect the bar pin to a small metal bar attachment at the top of a silk ribbon with no markings. The ribbon consists of a single red vertical stripe and a single white vertical stripe. The ribbon passes through a narrow elongated loop. A small brass ring connects the loop to a brass and enamel pendant. A brass eagle is affixed to an enameled Army of Northern Virginia pattern flag at the center of the pendant. The flag has a red enamel background, blue St. Andrew's cross, with non-enameled stars. Stenciled lettering appears in each quadrant of the flag: "LA" on the left, "A" on the top, "DIV" on the right, and "T" on the bottom. A raised laurel wreath image encircles and forms the bottom of the pendant. The back of the badge rests against the backing of the frame and is therefore, not visible. This badgel is part of a large framed collection (0985.7.135); the rest of the collection is enumerated separately (0985.7.135a- 0985.7.135w, 0985.7.135y-0985.7.135hh).
