Object Name BUGLE

Description The bugle is made of brass and has steel weld mends. The configuration is one large oval with two smaller circles contained within. The mouthpiece is detached and is also brass with some corrosion present. An inscription reads: "Presented to John Cavanaugh by Col. P.T. Moore of the 1st Virginia [Infty] CSA 1861. This bugle passed through the late war and finished up in prison camp, Harts Island, NY.. But after the war sounded many a call to preach the gospel of Christ by its owner North and South."
