Description The cane is a maple branch with a twisted limb, carved with the following inscription, "Swore that foeman's sword could never hearts like their entwined dissever till that flag would float forever o'er their freedom or their grave," and on the limb, "Furl that banner furl it sadly once ten thousand hailed it gladly, and ten thousands wildly, madly swore it would forever wave, Carved by a Johnny Reb June 1905." The cane had a metal end.
