NORTH PATENTED JUNE 17, 1856 JANUARY 18, 1859 MAY 15 1860."; "W" scratched into one side of the grip, star (*) is scratched on the other.

Provenance J. S. Beck removed the Colt revolver from the body of a dead Federal cavalry officer on the battlefield at Williamsburg, Virginia near Fort Magruder on May 9, 1862. The battle occurred on May 5, 1862. Beck was a member of Co. D, 2nd South Carolina Infantry.
