Description Colt Model 1860 Army Revolver, Type III - .44 cal., 6-shot rebated cylinder, 8" round barrel, creeping style loading lever. Brass blade front sight, rear sight through v-notch in hammer. Casehardened frame, hammer, and loading lever; remainder blued. One piece walnut grip, brass trigger guard and strap, steel backstrap. Bluing/Mottling +/- 95% worn. Scene depicting the Texas Navy's engagement of 16 May, 1843 is roll engraved on the cylinder - (partly visible). Scratched - Grip, left side: NVR Inspector, Proof, Assembly Marks - Barrel, right, near wedge: "S"; Barrel, left, near wedge: "C"; Barrel, underside, at loading lever cutout: "C"; Cylinder: B and S Backstrap, at hammer: T Triggerguard strap, at guard: T Grip, left bottomside: L Grip, left side, near Bottom: "PB" (cartouche) Stamped - Barrel at top: - ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA - (double stamped, ADDRESS thru COLT) Frame, left side: COLTS / PATENT Cylinder: 8489 Barrel lug at bottom, Frame at bottom, Triggerguard at bottom, Backstrap at bottom: serial # 28489.
