Headquarters flag of Arnold Elzey. Presented by the Ladies of Baltimore, Maryland, November 1861 and used as Gen. Elzey's Headquarters flag.
"A Confederate States battle flag, which was sent to Major General Arnold Elsey by the ladies of Baltimore, Maryland, after the first battle of Manassas, for his Headquarters flag. On the death of General Elzey the flag remained in the keeping of his wife. Some years later Mrs. Elzey gave this flag to my own wife, as she knew that I had served on General Elzey's staff as Aide de Camp both in the Army of Northern Virginia and in the Army of Tennessee…." - donor letter
