Description This massive carved oak arm chair has incised square feet with fluted stretchers and uprights. The back crest has a carved lone star in a circle of flowers at the top with two scroll shaped back slats, plain seat.

Provenance This arm chair was commissioned as a memorial to Major General John Bankhead Magruder, C.S.A. The chair was displayed in the Texas Room of the Confederate Museum (White House) as a commemoartion of his service to the C.S.A. made under the direction of Allen Wilson, foreman of the Texas Penitentiary cabinet shop.
