Description Toothpick carved from a beef rib in the shape of a pocket knife, double bracket form with the maker's name etched in red on the surface with a border "Wm Crosby.". The obverse side has a red etched design with a center flower and leaves surrounding. The picks open out from the center using levers on the sides. There appears to be four picks.

Provenance William A. Crosby was a member of the 3rd Bn. Virginia (Valley) Reserves and was imprisoned at Camp Chase Military Prison in Ohio. A fellow inmate at Camp Chase made this toothpick in 1864 and gave it to Crosby.
