Provenance The head warmer was worn by Luther Wright Jerrell. Jerrell enlisted as a Private at age 18 on March 10, 1862 in Co. B, 9th Virginia Cavalry, possibly as a substitute for a Mr. Burroughs near Richmond (per an old Museum label). He was mortally wounded in action on the Plank Road near Petersburg, VA. on October 27, 1864. He died four days later.
