Description Ivory paper knife with a wide flat body and tapered ends. A break in the blade is covered with a silver plate that reads: "Gen'l J.E.B. Stuart's paper cutter". "Stuart" is applied in red enamel on the back.

Provenance Ivory paper knife owned by Major General J.E.B. Stuart and carried by him in his field desk during the CIvil War. After his death it was carefully preserved and used by Major Henry B. McClellan, at one time AAG on Stuart's staff, until it was broken. He had it mended with the silver plate.
