Description Gilded brass scabbard (.159a) with two suspension rings and mounts cast with leaf design, applied cast South Carolina state seal, wreath with "Battle / of / Wichita / Oct. 1st / 1858", battle scene, American eagle clutching shield and arrows, lower scabbard engraved with Indian military trophies and floral scrolls, cast oak leaf spray on drag, stamped on reverse near throat "Made by / Ames Mfg. Co. Chicopee Mass". For sword (.159) with wooden presentation case (.159b) lined in blue velvet.
