Provenance Col. Ellison Capers used these saddle holsters and cover with the saddle (0985.10.102). His men presented the holsters and cover to him in winter quarters in Dalton, Georgia, in January 1864 while he was colonel of the 24th South Carolina Infantry. Capers used the saddle holsters and cover during Hood's and Johnston's campaigns in Georgia and Tennessee.
