Description Model 1860 U. S. Light Cavalry Saber: single-edged, curved blade with rounded back and rudimentary false edge and two fullers; reverse ricasso etched "S.N.Meyer / Washington / D.C." ;blade etched "Albert Francis Davis / Co. D. 6th Div. Clarke Cavalry / Provost Guard / Fitz Lee's Division / Lomax's Brigade / 1861-1865 C.S.A" , brass hilt with a knuckle bow and two branches flowing from an oval guard and terminating at the pommel; wood grip with swell in the center covered in leather and wound in twisted brass wire. Metal scabbard (.375a) with two suspension rings and large drag.

Provenance This sword and scabbard were taken from a dead Union soldier's body after the First Battle of Manassas and then given to Albert Francis Davis, Clarke County Cavalry, Fitzhugh Lee's Division, Lomax's Brigade. He then carried it for the duration of the war.
