Description Vest of steel gray wool cloth with stand up collar, three pockets, back panel of light brown wool and silk cloth, inner lining of light brown polished cotton sheeting, nine button front (buttons missing).

Provenance This vest was worn by George Terry Sinclair on the steamship Florida [CSS Florida] all during the Civil War. Sinclair was with the commerce raider Florida from late 1862 until her capture in October 1864 and was imprisoned at Fort Warren, Boston, until early 1865. According to the donor, the buttons were "robbed by fair ladies from time to time."
