Provenance This belt plate was found on the farm of Ms. Sue Simmons (now Mrs. Opie) near Bardstown, Kentucky after a skirmish between General John Hunt Morgan's forces and General Buell's rear guard shortly after General Bragg left Bardsville. This skirmish took place just before the Battle of Perryville, Kentucky.
