Description Model 1840 U. S. Light Artillery Saber: single-edged curved blade with single broad fuller, stamped "U.S. / ADK / 1862" obverse ricasso and "[AMES MFG] CO / CHICOPEE / MASS" on reverse ricasso, leather cushion; brass hilt formed from knuckle bow terminating in disc quillon, flared pommel; wood grip covered with leather and wound with remains twisted brass wire. Metal scabbard (.76b) with two suspension rings and drag.
