Provenance Postwar flag from Davis's Funeral Procession, Raleigh, North Carolina. Jefferson Davis died on December 6, 1889 in New Orleans, Louisiana. There was a funeral procession through Raleigh, North Carolina, prior to his reinterment on May 30, 1893. The flag was given to Mr. J. Taylor Ellyson to carry on the funeral car to Richmond, Virginia.
