Description German Officer's heavy cavalry saber; single edged quill-back blade, substantial false edge, blade is etched with floral sprays, military trophies, and flags, at base of blade etched "Echt Damas & / Eisenhauer" on obverse "Wielfert & Co. / in Berlin" on reverse, stamped on obverse ricasso squirrel within circle; plated steel half-basket hilt with three flat branches and a counter-guard and knuckle bow flow into stylized bird's head pommel. backstrap and ears cover grip of shagreen and twisted metal wire, remnants of leather finger loop. With plated metal scabbard (.89a) with rings and drag.
