Event Battle of Bristoe Station
Provenance Surgeon-General Thomas Lawson Barraud carried this sword as Chief Medical Officer for the U. S. Army during the Mexican War. Barraud was mortally wounded at Bristoe Station on October 14, 1863 and died the next day. He left the sword to his namesake and "near kinsman" Thomas Lawson Barraud.
