Provenance Jefferson Davis used this pair of ivory seals during the war. Gen. Charles Hurlbutt removed them from the White House of the Confederacy during the Federal occupation. Hurlbutt commanded the 7th New Hampshire Infantry. He either sold or gave the seals to Edward H. Wright, who gave them to the donor.
