Provenance The wool homespun blanket was used by Stephen Blackwell Hughes during his service in the artillery during the war. Hughes enlisted in April 1861 at Richmond, in Capt. J. Thompson Brown's Battery, 2nd Co. Richmond Howitzers. After the war, Hughes served a term as President of the Richmond Howitzer's Association.
