Description The washstand consists of either cherry or maple cabinet, one drawer, and one hinged door on the front. The hinged lid lifts to reveal a metal-lined inner well. The cabinet has plain, stump feet. Paper label attached to the inside of the hinged door reads, "This washstand used by President Davis - donated to the Museum by Mrs. James Riddick."

Provenance The washstand was used by Jefferson Davis while in residence in the Executive Mansion in Richmond, Virginia, 1861-1865.
