Description The souvenir consists of a dried rose in a brass and wood frame. The frame has elaborate gold ornamentation on the corners. The paper on which the rose is pressed reads, "a rose from the funeral car of Jefferson Davis that passed through Raleigh on its way to Richmond," in hand print beneath the rose.

Provenance The rose is a memento of the train procession carrying the body of Jefferson Davis to Richmond, Virginia for its reinterment in Hollywood Cemetery. It was gathered from the funeral car in Raleigh, NC.
