Provenance The demitasse cups and saucers were part of a set used in the Executive Mansion in Richmond by Varina and Jefferson Davis during the war. They were bought at an auction of the household goods after the evacuation of Richmon by R. A. Lancaster -- "Four beautiful after dinner coffee cups that were bought from the sale of President Davis' effects just after the war."
