Provenance This communion service was presented in 1861 to the "Washington Light Infantry", Co. A, Hampton Legion, of Charleston, South Carolina. The Rev. A. Toomer Porter used this communion service during the war as Chaplain, and later gave it to T. M. Logan. When the command left Virginia, their former Captain, afterwards Governor, T. M. Logan placed it in the keeping of some friends in Richmond. After the war he took charge of it and several churches without communion services used it until they could provide one of their own.
