Provenance Edward W. Crozier was a sergeant in Capt. Putnam Darden's Jefferson Flying Artillery Battery of Mississippi, a unit engaged in most of the campaigns of the Army of Tennessee until it was disbanded in late 1864. He wore these garments when he surrendered after Forrest's last fight around Selma, Alabama to Gen. Canby.
