Provenance J. Tyler Jobson used this Remington rifle during the war. Jobson's unit was the Portsmouth Rifles, Co. G, 9th Virginia Infantry. The 9th Virginia Infantry was part of Pickett's Division and Armistead' Brigade. He fought with the unit at Gettysburg in 1863. He lost his weapon when he was wounded on the battlefield at Seven Pines on May 31, 1862. His name and unit were carved into the rifle. Michael Daly, Co. F, 66th Infantry Irish Brigade, New York State Volunteers picked up the rifle from the battlefield and kept it. Daly returned the rifle to Jobson in March 1886.
