Provenance William Warren found the sword and scabbard at Trail Ridge (now known as Highland), Florida in 1862. He later gave the sword and scabbard to Miss Florida McAfee, who in turn, gave them to the Joseph Wheeler Chapter, UDC, Starke, Florida.

"Mr. Warren was paying court to Miss Florida, and when he was called away to service, laid the sword at his sweetheart's feet. He had only found it after a raid made by the enemy, yet he prized it." (donor letter)
