|Description||These are two pieces of wood on a card (14" x 4.5"). There is a piece of wood from the "U.S. Frigate Constitution" [USS Constitution] (1.25" x .75") and a piece of wood from the USS Star of the West (3.5" x .5"). These pieces of wood are on a card that once contained wood from numerous other historic vessels (The Puritan, 1620; Virginia/Merrimac; Alabama; Kearsage; Galena; and Chicora). On the card are hand written histories for the vessels. Their condition is poor, the card is tattered and folded in half.|

This is wood from the U.S. Frigate Constitution,"also known as "Old Iron Sides," from 1812 (the USS Constitution); and from the "Star of the West" (USS Star of the West), in 1861, which in attempting to reinforce Fort Sumter, caused the first cannon shot to be fired (1861).
Card is labeled for pieces of wood previously contained wood from numerous other historic vessels (The Puritan, 1620; CSS Virginia / USS Merrimac; CSS Alabama; USS Kearsarge; USS Galena; and CSS Chicora).
