Miniature South Carolina state and First National flag. Made by a young lady in 1861 and given to John Scott, a Confederate soldier of Sumter, South Carolina.
This flag was probably presented to Scott by someone he knew in Sumter, possibly even a relative (possibly Octavia Harby Moses, who is known to have made flags in Sumter) before he left South Carolina in May 1861.
