Provenance This pair of leather baby shoes was found in Rose Levy's effects. The leather was tanned in the tanyard of her husband, Harris Levy. He was from Butler, Taylor County, Georgia, and it is believed his tanyard was located there. It is unknown whether he tanned the leather himself, or someone else (possibly a slave) performed this work in his tanyard.
