Object Name Kit, Surgical
Catalog Number 0985.03.00091, a-f
Description The surgical kit comes in a walnut case with brass corners and a yellow velvet interior. A nameplate with "U.S.A. / Hospt'l D'p't" engraved on it is attached on top of the case. A blue label on the bottom inside of the case reads, "V. W. BRINKERHOFF / MANUFACTURER OF / SURGICAL & DENTAL INSTRUMENTS, / MEDICINE CHESTS, SADDLE BAGS ETC. / 88 William St., N. Y." The contents of the case are as follows: amputation knife (a), metacarpal saw (b), tenaculum (c), tenon saw (d), bone forceps (e), and a piece of tobacco (f). Four instruments are missing.
