Description Uniform Frock coat: double breasted, 7 buttons in each row, brown (faded from gray) wool and cotton cloth with no facings, pink (faded from red) wool piping, black wool and silk (with interwoven floral pattern) lining in body, off-white cotton osnaburg lining in sleeves; embroidered gold colonel's collar insignia, gold sleeve braid, Federal staff buttons with backmark: "EXTRA/QUALITY," cape attachment button have Old English script E with backmark: "W. DOWLER/SUPERIOR."
