Event Battle of Middleburg (tentative)
Provenance Maj. Heros von Borcke wore this sash as part of his Confederate uniform. He was wearing this particular one when he was wounded (battle not named, but believed the Battle of Middleburg, where he was severely wounded). As a Captain, he served as Assistant Adjutant General on Maj. Gen. J. E. B. Stuart's staff during June and July 1862, being promoted to Major on July 25, 1862. As a Major, he later served as AAG on Brig. Gen. Alfred Colquitt's staff. Von Borcke gave this sash to his daughter, Virginia von Borcke von Scheve of Potsdam. She in turn presented it to Col. Edgar Erskine Hume.
