The brass and enamel badge consists of four parts - bar pin, two connecting rings, and pendant. The bar pin is basically shaped like a rounded-off trapezoid. The top of the bar pin has a black enamel "D" with a red enamel branch coming through from behind and going out of the top. A laurel leaf garland sits below the "D," and both sides of the trapezoid contain tic marks. A brass rectangular bar is adhered to the base of the trapezoid. "CONFEDERATE VETERAN" is printed in raised letters in the center of the bar inside a oval frame. A brass ring on either side of the bottom of the bar connected the bar pin to the pendant, which is shaped like an upside down triangle. The edges of the pendant are beveled. A First National pattern flag raised image bisects the inner triangle. The raised letters "F. C. A." are printed on the top half. The flag swirls and then drapes over its staff in the bottom portion of the triangle. A small bar on the flag contains the following in raised letters, "IN MEMORIAM." A fancy, raised monogram of "CSA" is at the bottom of the triangle. The back of the badge rests against the backing of the frame and is therefore, not visible. This badge is part of a large framed collection (0985.7.135); the rest of the collection is enumerated separately (0985.7.135a- 0985.7.135p, 0985.7.135r-0985.7.135hh).
