Provenance Flag of the 1st North Carolina Infantry, Co. A, "Albemarle Guards". It was presented to the company by the ladies of Edenton, North Carolina, on December 15, 1860. Capt. Tristrim L. Skinner was the company captain at the time. The flag was carried by the unit under Capt. Skinner, who died at Ellerson's Mill (Mechanicsville / Beaver Dam Creek), Virginia, June 1862.
