Description The carving consists of interlocking squares of bone, shell, and hard rubber linked together with pins. One side has an inlay of x's and diamonds while the obverse has slash and rectangle inlays; the larger piece has a large diamond with inlayed triangles surrounding and on the reverse, a large inlaid rectangle. Two pieces of bone connect the larger piece to the smaller.

Provenance Capt. L. F. Moody made this bone, wood, and shell carving while a POW at Johnson's Island in Ohio. He was a member of Co. B, 7th Texas Volunteer Infantry. Carving made from chart rule (as evidenced by groove on back of hard rubber -- typical of edge of chart rule).
